Free Amazon SEO Audit: Title, Bullets and Backend Keywords
Amazon SEO is an inventory of indexed fields and their limits, and that inventory changed on 27 July 2026: the title was capped at 75 characters outside media categories, and Item Highlights added a separate searchable field of up to 125 characters. A keyword plan written for a 200-character title is now aimed at space that no longer exists. This audit scores the fields Amazon actually indexes, free, no login.
What this checks
- ✓ Title: length against the 75-character cap in force since 27 July 2026, keyword order, repetition and promotional wording
- ✓ Item Highlights: whether the separate 125-character indexed field is used at all
- ✓ Bullet points: count, length, duplicated terms and claims that put the offer at risk
- ✓ Backend search terms: true UTF-8 byte count against the 249-byte limit, plus words already covered by the title
- ✓ Images: count and resolution, because click-through is a ranking input and the image set decides it
- ✓ AI readiness: whether Amazon’s AI layer can parse the structure and language of the listing
Public checks cannot certify compliance. Account information we cannot read stays flagged as unknown rather than passed.

Questions
What does an Amazon SEO audit actually check?
The fields Amazon indexes and the limits on them: the product title, Item Highlights, the five bullet points, backend search terms measured in UTF-8 bytes, and the image set that drives click-through. It does not check A+ content for keywords, because A+ is not indexed by Amazon search.
How long should an Amazon title be in 2026?
Up to 75 characters including spaces, in every category except media, since 27 July 2026. Detail that no longer fits belongs in Item Highlights, a separate searchable field of up to 125 characters. Titles over the cap are progressively replaced with Amazon’s own AI wording, with a 14-day review window per listing.
Do backend search terms still matter?
Yes, and they are the most commonly wasted field on Amazon. The limit is 249 bytes, not 249 characters, so accented and non-Latin characters cost more than one byte each. Repeating words already in the title adds nothing because the index deduplicates.
Does this tell me my keyword rankings?
No, and that is deliberate. A rank tracker tells you where you sit; this audit tells you what in the listing is holding you there. The two answer different questions and you need both.
Is the SEO audit free?
Yes. The score and every flagged issue are free, with no account. Written corrections for the fixable fields are the paid feature.
