Is Amazon about to rewrite your title?

Amazon enforces the title length limit in characters, not display width, since 21 January 2025, and auto-rewrites titles that break its style policy. Paste an ASIN or URL below and this checker reads the live title against the character cap, banned characters, ALL CAPS and repetition rules, free.

Free, no login, no card. See every check at /checks.

What it checks

  • Character count against the 200-character cap (and lower category-specific caps where they apply)
  • ALL CAPS, banned special characters, and promotional or subjective language ("Best Seller", "100% guaranteed")
  • Word repetition: a word, including the brand name, used more than twice
  • A mobile-truncation preview, roughly the first 70 to 80 characters shown in search results

How it works

1

Paste an ASIN or Amazon product URL and pick a marketplace.

2

SellCrisp reads the live title and checks it against the character cap and style rules.

Frequently asked

What is the current Amazon title character limit?+

200 characters including spaces for most categories, enforced as characters since 21 January 2025. Some categories carry lower, configurable caps.

What else does the checker flag?+

ALL CAPS, banned special characters (like ! $ ? _ { } ^), promotional or subjective language ("Best Seller", "100% guaranteed"), and a word repeated more than twice.

What happens if my title breaks the rules?+

Since 27 July 2026 Amazon rewrites over-length titles with its own AI. Brand owners get 14 days in Review Listing Changes to review, modify or approve the machine version before it publishes; the listing stays active meanwhile. Do nothing and Amazon's wording ships. The keywords that no longer fit belong in Item Highlights, the separate 125-character searchable field Amazon added alongside the cap.

Why does the tool show a mobile-truncation preview?+

Roughly the first 70 to 80 characters are what shows on mobile search results. Since the cap is now 75 characters, what you write and what a buyer sees have essentially converged: there is no longer any hidden tail to park keywords in.

Is the title checker free?+

Yes, and with no form: no email, no company name, no card. Paste an ASIN and read the answer. AI-rewritten titles that fit 75 characters without losing your keywords are the paid one-click fix.
